Zoom Lesson Set Up
All of our lessons at Sound Music School are conducted from our offices but each space is equipped with an iPad in case a student needs to be remote. The settings on Zoom need to be configured in a specific way so that the instrument’s audio is not cut out of the sound. This can be a frustrating issue with online music lessons. There’s a simple set of steps to follow depending on the device you’re connecting from. Some people use computers while most others will use phones or tablets. In each case, before you start the meeting, you’ll want to navigate to the '“settings” menu which is inside the “more” button (on iPhone it’s 3 dots on the bottom right corner). Then select “audio” and then check “original sound”. This step from the main menu only has to be done once. However, each time you begin a new meeting, you’ll need to navigate to the “more” menu on your meeting screen (3 dots) and click on “enable original sound”. This second step occurs during your actual meeting and needs to be done every time you join a Zoom session to ensure the best possible audio. Here’s some helpful videos that will walk you through the process if you’re having trouble:
